Good questions.
Is Liquid Metal FX real metal?
Yes. Real metal powder is carried in our water-based binder, so the finish sands, polishes and takes a patina like solid metal.
Fine or Texture binder?
Fine goes on by brush, roller or spray for flat finishes. Texture goes on by trowel and builds up for textured finishes.
How do I mix it?
We recommend 3 parts metal to 1 part binder. It’s versatile, so adjust the mix to get the consistency you want. Every kit is 4 parts metal powder to 1 part binder by weight, in every size. The extra powder lets you mix it thicker if you like.
What surfaces can I apply it to?
Wood and MDF, plaster and walls, resin and fibreglass, metal, concrete and glass. The surface must be clean, free of dust and oil, then primed with a suitable primer.
Can I use it outside?
Yes, indoors and outdoors. Seal it with a clear sealer to protect the finish or patina from wear and oxidising. To age it, apply a patina.
How much do I need?
Coverage is estimated on our samples and application technique. Always make a sample in your technique and verify coverage before installation.
