Every kit size holds 4 parts metal powder to 1 part binder by weight (800 g + 200 g in the 1 kg kit).

| Sealing | A clear sealer is recommended over the finish or patina: use one if you don’t want the finish to patinate (oxidise), or to protect it from general wear. |

| Storage and shelf life | Binder: keep the tin tightly closed. Store between 5 °C and 30 °C, away from heat. Use within 24 months. Metal powder: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from food and drink. |
How to use it.

We recommend 3 parts metal to 1 part binder. It’s versatile, so adjust the mix to get the consistency you want. Stir the metal powder into the binder.
Apply
Prime the surface with a primer that suits it, then brush, roll, spray or trowel the mix on. Make a sample in your technique first.
Finish
Sand and polish to a shine, or apply a patina for aged, oxidised effects. Then seal with a clear sealer.

Good questions.
Is it real metal?
Yes. Real metal powder is carried in our water-based binder, so the finish sands, polishes and takes a patina like solid metal.
Fine or Texture binder?
Fine binder is smooth and paint-like, for brushed, rolled or sprayed finishes. Texture binder is thicker and trowel-friendly, for sculpted or dimensional effects.
What’s in the kit?
Real copper metal powder plus your choice of Fine or Texture binder. The 1 kg kit holds 800 g of metal powder and 200 g of binder, and every size keeps that 4 to 1 proportion.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes, indoors and outdoors. Seal it with a clear sealer to stop it patinating (oxidising) and to protect it from wear. To age it, apply a patina, or leave it unsealed to oxidise naturally.
Which patina works with which metal?
Blue and green patinas are for Copper, Bronze, Brass and Dark Bronze (green reacts most strongly on Copper). They are not recommended for Zinc. Red Rust patina is mainly for Iron and Zinc, and can also be used on the other metals. See the patina chart on Finishes.
Is the binder water-based?
Yes. Liquid Metal FX binders are water-based, low VOC, with low fire risk. Read the safety data sheets before use.
